Alaska Magazine!

May 31, 2013

Just got to see the final copy on this essay I wrote for the May/June issue of Alaska Magazine. So excited because the essay really should have been a chapter in the book. (In fact, I think it once was, but had to be cut along way due to pacing.) It's all about rafting the Deshka river: 2 Great Alaskan Dads, 2 Great Alaskan Daughters, 1 Great Alaskan son, endless rain, endless Milky Ways, endless King salmon and no current...at all.

Book Club Madness

May 29, 2013

Had such a good time with the Stoneleigh Book Club this week. What a smart, savvy group of women. Plus: finally got to read from the Maryland sections of the memoir.

This Monday, May 13th. Brooklyn. 8pm. Franklin Park

And the brilliant take-no-prisoners ELISSA SCHAPPELL (Blueprints for Building Better Girls, Use Me). And the  dark, smart ROXANE GAY (Bad Feminist, The Rumpus). And very cool, original MICHAEL HEALD (Goodbye to the Nervous Apprehension). Come meet us?

Lucky Magazine Outfits Still Points North

April 17, 2013

I'm new to publishing. Getting a New York Times review was a dream come true. So was chatting (oh, so casually) on NPR. But this week,  when Lucky magazine picked a power outfit to match Still Points North, I was flabbergasted—in the best of ways. They had me at galoshes. And fake fur.

Still Points North Chosen for Elle's Readers Prize.

April 03, 2013

Elle Magazine ran an author smackdown in this month's. Still Points North "warmed readers' hearts" and they put a photo of funny and freaklishly, fabulously talented Meg Wolitzer next to the (lovely) review. Thanks Elle readers!
